Man tried to sell baby for home improvements... financial planning shows a better way!

Man tried to sell baby for home improvements... financial planning shows a better way!

Hi! You've got to read this CNN story about a father who decided he wanted to sell his infant daughter to raise money for home renovations.

What's the world coming to?

Read this and decide...

CNN.com - Man tried to sell baby for home improvements, police say - Apr 22, 2006: "Man tried to sell baby for home improvements, police say

APPLETON, Wisconsin (AP) -- A man raising his 18-month-old daughter alone tried to sell the little girl for $7,000 so he could make improvements to his house, police said Friday."

If you're back after reading that disturbing piece, you'll be pleased to know that most people are able to harness basic financial planning principles like spending less than they earn and saving for what they want, instead of adopting (reverse pun intended) that unnatural behaving father's actions!

Easter Musical - I'm the brown blob on the right!

Easter Musical - I'm the brown blob on the right!

Hi! It's Easter Monday now and the weekend just past was intense!

I was involved in a massive Easter Musical presentation in my home church in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia. There's a fantastic photo of it in today's (April 17th 2006) Star newspaper, on page 29, along with a nice write-up.

If you'd like to check out that piece online, visit:
http://www.thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2006/4/17/nation/13978060&sec=nation

The caption of the picture gives the title of the musical:
Believe - The Story of a King who died for you

If you look really, really, really carefully, at the photo in the Star article at:
http://www.thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2006/4/17/nation/13978060&sec=nation
you'll see the choir on the right of the picture. At about the middle of the shot, on the extreme right, you'll see an indistinct brown blob. That would be me, in the back row of the choir, in the bass section. You can also see the back of our awesome choir director, Jocelyn.

In the body of the text of the newspaper article, the last five paragraphs pertain to our musical. My friend Jenny, our long-suffering director, is quoted saying, "We have organised this as one big family..." She's right - and it was a blast!

In closing, I hope you too had a great weekend.

And for those subscribers of my GET BETTER ezine who took the time and trouble to drive to Seremban for the musical, thank you. I hope you had as great a time watching the show as the 350 of us had in putting it together for you.

Take care.

Warmest regards,

Rajen

Finally, An Affordable Mass Market Consulting Package

Finally, An Affordable Mass Market Consulting Package

Hi! For several years, I've offered a life planning consulting module for elite personal clients. But it's always saddened me that because there's only so much of me to go around, I've had to turn down requests to help lot of other people who are seeking consultative hand-holding in the areas of personal finance, goal-setting and time management.

This situation has bothered me for quite a while. So, finally, after a lot of thought, I've decided to stretch myself a little further by putting together a brand new consulting package that will run in parallel with my existing one, but will leverage off the flexibility afforded by the Internet.

This new option is a comprehensive online version of my full face-to-face lifeplanning consulting module that existing clients pay US$2,700 or US$4,000 for (those in my home country of Malaysia pay the equivalent of an even RM10,000 or RM15,000).

A major difference is that the new version is a whole lot cheaper.

I call the new consulting option Rajen Devadason's Personal Effectiveness Training (PET) Package. It lasts 3 months (13 weeks), and encompasses my personalised training and mentoring in personal finance, goal-setting and time management.

For those who are interested, here are the salient details:

The title, again, is: Rajen Devadason's Personal Effectiveness Training Package
Investment: US$250.
Mode of training:
  • A comprehensive life planning manual, which is downloadable from my site;
  • 52 lessons (4 lessons delivered via email each week); and
  • Personal answers to your questions via my blog or email.

Because of the personalised aspect of the training, I can still only handle a limited (albeit larger than was previously the case) number of new clients each month.

I am treating all queries on a strict first-come-first-served basis, with one proviso - preferential access is granted to subscribers of my free personal development ezine, GET BETTER. (If you'd rather sign up for that first, to get a feel for the value of what I have to offer, you may do so at:

http://FreeCoolArticles.com

Spend a few seconds scanning the material there. After a short while an offer to sign up for GET BETTER will appear. Do so, if you like, and remember to confirm your subscription.)

For those who are in a hurry and are 100% serious about knowing more about my new consulting package, you're welcome to write to me at:

rajen@RajenDevadason.com

Put

'Rajen, tell me about your new consulting option, please'

in your subject header, so that I'll be able to get back to you quickly.

That's it for now. Take care.

Warmest regards,

Rajen

Famous Quotes - banking and financial planning

Famous Quotes - banking and financial planning

Hi! Despite all the ads to the contrary, ultimately banks don't work for us the customer, but rather for their shareholders. Hence I find a rather funny, yet eminently accurate, quotation by Robert Frost to also be depressingly accurate! I think you'll enjoy checking it out here.

For your own financial and emotional wellbeing, it makes sense to ensure your finances are in good order before you stroll into your highstreet bank asking for a loan to help realise a business idea that you think can transform you into the next Gates or Buffett.

For cool articles that contain ideas and principles that will help you strengthen your own finances, you're welcome to visit my archive of simple ways to do financial planning.
